As a kid, we want to roam and play freely without a care in the world (that was some time ago, obviously). Unfortunately, life isn’t quite as forgiving or straightforward. Short of having your kids on a leash (it already exists, how horrific), why not harness technology to give freedom to your kids, yet keep them close and safe? Here’s what MaxisONE Kid coupled with the QQ Watch are bringing to the plate.
Your three-year old may be too young to own and use a smartphone but what about a kid-friendly smartwatch? A smart device on the wrist so you can be connected to them at all times, and monitor their activities.
The MaxisONE plan for kids
In a nutshell, MaxisONE Kid is an extension of the MaxisONE plan–a kid-friendly postpaid plan designed for the QQ Watch. Just plug in the MaxisONE Kid nano-SIM into the watch, and go.
Made by Tencent, the QQ Watch can make calls, alert you when your kid is too far, or can even send an ‘SOS’ notification when they’re in trouble.
The watch comes with 500MB of data, unlimited calls to 10 numbers (across all networks) and supports voice messaging. With a GPS built-in, it gives you real-time location reports, and features a one-touch SOS call function.
It’s not all work and no play. The QQ Watch also includes 2-way text messaging and calling; and a 0.3MP camera.
Through the bundled QQ app, you can set up safety or dangerous zones. The watch will send you notifications if your kid crosses safety zones, or steps inside dangerous zones.
The app supports both Android and iOS smartphones.
How much is the MaxisONE Kid plan?
The normal price for MaxisONE Kid plan is MYR58/month and comes with a one-year contract. You can have up to two MaxisONE Kid supplementary lines per Principal Line.
However, if you currently have a MaxisONE Share line, you’ll get a MYR20 monthly rebate, for MYR38/month.
