Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Messenger features

It’s been a long wait, but Episode IX i.e Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is finally here—the third instalment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy; the final episode of the nine-part Skywalker saga that has spanned over four decades. Just about every brand has jumped on the Star Wars bandwagon one way or another, and why the hell not, right? Well, Facebook certainly isn’t one to be left out of the loop. Last week, it announced a partnership with Disney and the result is a series of limited-edition Messenger features that include a chat theme, reactions, stickers and AR effects. They’re pretty darn cool, whether you’re a fan or not.

You can bring the Star Wars galaxy into your Messenger chats, while reactions and stickers allow you to express yourself using your favourite Star Wars characters. And yes, from both sides of the Force.

There’s also limited-edition AR effects that you can apply to Messenger video calls and while taking photos with the Messenger camera.

Jump into hyperspace and travel great distances with the Lightspeed Effect. You can also be part of the Resistance and glide through galaxies in Poe Dameron’s X-Wing with Cockpit Effect.

Don’t forget about the battle between Dark vs Light side of the Force. Use the Dark vs Light Effect to choose your side.

To turn on the Star Wars chat theme, open a Messenger thread and tap the name of the thread at the top to open the thread settings. Then, select “theme” and you’ll find the Star Wars chat theme. Hurrah!

May the Force be with you!

See you at the premiere on 20 December!
