Honor MagicWatch 2: Even more magic for your wrist

Honor MagicWatch 2

Honor Malaysia today sprinkled a little magic for Malaysian consumers—officially introducing the Honor MagicWatch 2. The intelligent and stylish wearable boasts up to 14-day battery life, powered by the Kirin A1 chip as well as new watch faces and enhanced health and fitness monitoring tools.

The Honor MagicWatch 2 comes in two sizes: 46mm and 42mm—both cases are made from aerospace-grade refined 361L stainless steel. Aesthetically, they adopt a circular design that inherits a classic look of a traditional mechanical watch. The 46mm model comes in Charcoal Black and Flax Brown cases while the 42mm variant is housed in Agate Black and Sakura Gold. You’ll notice similarities with its close cousin the Huawei Watch GT 2, but honestly, it isn’t a bad thing at all. The 46mm, especially, looks and feels solid, and has an understated elegance to it. The 42mm isn’t bad looking either, although at a glance it reminds me of the Galaxy Gear S2. Again, not a bad thing.

The 46mm variant features a high-definition 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen (454x454p @ 326PPI) that boasts 800-nits of peak brightness. This means you’ll have no problems viewing the display contents under bright sunlight. Meanwhile, the 42mm variant packs a slightly more compact 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with the same pixel density. Honor has added more watch faces with various complications to give you more personalisation options.

In terms of battery life, Honor claims the 46mm model can last up to 14 days with sleep monitor, heart rate monitoring and message notification activated daily; 90-minute workout with GPS every week; 30-minute music playing; and 30-minute of Bluetooth calls per week. On the subject of Bluetooth calls, the 46mm version supports calls up to 150m away from your smartphone. It can also store up to 500 songs with its 4GB onboard storage (2GB for music storage) or stream music from your smartphone. The built-in speaker is surprisingly loud.

Both models come with GPS and GLONASS support built-in and offer 5ATM water-resistance, in short, swim-proof.

With its new smartwatch, Honor has added even more fitness modes, now supporting 15 goal-based fitness modes including eight outdoor and seven indoor sports ranging from running, hiking, cycling, triathlon to swimming, free training and rowing (machine).

The watch also offers 13 professional indoor and outdoor running courses–from beginner to advanced levels. This is complemented by a virtual pacesetter with real-time actionable advice to ensure you meet your running goals.

With Huawei’s TrueSleep 2.0 technology, the Honor MagicWatch 2 can precisely track and diagnose six types of sleep disorders and provide over 200 corresponding suggestions tailored to your sleeping habits, to improve your sleep quality.

Huawei TruRelax technology tracks your stress level and suggests breathing exercises to calm you down. Additionally, Huawei TruSeen keeps an eye on your heart rate 24/7 and send you an alert if it goes above or below normal levels.

With water resistance up to 50m, the watch monitors your heart rate underwater as well as record your SWOLF score, distance, speed and burned calories.

All health data can be synced to your smartphone that’s pre-installed with the Huawei Health app.
