Apple TV+ now on Google TV

Apple TV on Google TV

I can’t say I’m not excited. Google has announced that the Apple TV app, including Apple TV+ is now globally available on the new Chromecast with Google TV. Support for more Google TV devices is coming.

To access the Apple TV app, all you need to do is navigate to the Apps tab or apps row in the “For you” tab. Looking forward to the day the Chromecast with Google TV remote control has a dedicated Apple TV button alongside existing YouTube and Netflix ones.

With the latest integration, you’ll now be able to tune into Apple TV+’s library of award-winning original shows, movies and documentaries, including my favourite “Ted Lasso,” “The Morning Show,” and “For All Mankind” TV series.

Now that Apple TV is baked in, it means you can ask Google Assistant to open the Apple TV app or play a title. You can also add Apple Originals to your Watchlist for later. These features are currently available only in the US. Google says the new features will roll out globally in the coming months.

You will need to have an Apple TV+ subscription of course; either log in with an existing account or subscribe as a new user. With Apple’s Family Sharing, you can share your subscription with up to six family members. Or subscribe Apple One, and enjoy even more savings on Apple services such as iCloud, Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple Arcade.

In addition to Chromecast with Google TV, the Apple TV app will also be available on Google TVs from Sony and TCL. Expect more Android TV-powered device support in the coming months.
