ASUS today unveiled new additions to its ASUSPro Series of professional notebooks – the B ADVANCED Ultrabook and P ESSENTIAL notebook, both offering performance, reliability and at an affordable cost.
Present at the press event was ASUS Malaysia Country Manager, Jimmy Lin and ASUS Country Product Manager for Commercial Business, CN Ng. In his opening address, Lin revealed that in just three years, ASUS has moved from sixth spot in notebook marketshare in Malaysia to second spot this year, a testament of its quality and reliability. Lin added that in the Android tablet space, ASUS is also in the second spot.
RESCUECOM, the leading repair services company in the US dubs ASUS as the “new leader in reliable personal computers”, topping even Apple in reliability rankings.
ASUSPro B Advanced BU400 – the ultrabook built for business
The ASUSPro BU400 meets today’s computing demands of mobility, durability, security and productivity. The notebook, designed from ground up for professional users is renowned for its strict quality tests, proven to exceed demanding MIL-STD 810G military standard, ensuring extra durability and long-lasting reliability.
Carrying a 14-inch display, the notebook only weighs 1.64kg and comes in a slim 21mm profile. Its durable aluminium and carbon fibre construction houses a shock-absorbing 500GB SATA hard drive (or optional 128GB MSATA SSD).
Powering the notebook is a 3rd generation Intel Core i5-3337U processor (up to 2.7Ghz), with 4GB of onboard memory and NVIDIA GeForce 5200 discrete graphics with 1GB DDR3 VRAM. The spill-resistant keyboard has excellent travel and precise feel, as tested during the launch. Security is reinforced with built-in Trusted Platform Module (TPM) hardware, fingerprint reading and facial recognition login capabilities.
The ASUS BU400 runs Windows 8 Pro (64-bit) and comes bundled with Intel Small Business Advantage, Intel Anti-Theft technology and Computrace LoJack for notebooks.
Computrace LoJack is a tracking and recovery solution that will be available soon on a subscription-based model. This is very similar to automotive tracking and recovery solutions, minus the car chases of course. No official word on pricing yet.
The ASUSPro B Advanced BU400 retails for RM3,599 (SRP) and is available from mid-September 2013 onwards.
ASUSPro P Essential P45 – the affordable business notebook
The ASUSPro P Essential P45 is a value-for-money, full-featured notebook designed for the small to medium-sized businesses. Like the BU400, the P45 offers outstanding reliability and durability, exceeding industry standards in drop tests, hinge cycle tests and panel pressure tests. The P45 also uses anti-shock hard drives and feature a spill-resistant keyboard.
The 14-inch LED-backlit TFT LCD anti-glare display pushes out a HD resolution of 1366×768. A 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3520U processor (up to 3.6Ghz) sits in the heart of the P45, with NVIDIA GeForce GT635M discrete graphics (2GB DDR3). Storage is a 750GB SATA hard drive spinning at 5,400rpm. The notebook features a DVD combo optical drive and runs Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) out-of-the-box.
ASUS’ Super Hybrid Engine II delivers battery performance of up to 14-day standby with its standard 4,700mAh, 6-cell li-ion polymer battery. Data is automatically backed up when battery drops below 5%.
For greater security, ASUS SecureDelete completely and securely removes confidential files.
The ASUSPro P Essential P45 will go on sale from late August 2013 onwards at a price of RM3,099 (SRP).
Both the ASUSPro B Advanced BU400 and the P Essential P45 are both covered by a 2-year limited international hardware warranty.
