It’s awesome to be single. OK, perhaps that’s debatable. The absolutely made-up holiday–11.11, originating from China (you can thank Alibaba for commercialising it in 2012), is one of the largest online shopping days in the world. In China, it generated over US$14.3 billion in sales, in 2015. How’s that for consumerism? Well, we’re all looking for deals and steals, so what better than 11.11 eh? Here are some tech gadgetry you may want to consider on this special day (sourced from Lazada).

The DJI Osmo Mobile may be brand new, but this hasn’t stopped retailers from giving a good discount for 11.11. This may be the lowest spec Redmi Note 3 but it’s still a kick-ass phone. The budget phablet rocks a snappy Snapdragon 650 mated to 2GB RAM, boasts an ultra-fast fingerprint sensor, a huge 4050mAh battery and a premium metal build. It’s got a fantastic Full HD screen, and a 16MP rear camera. If you’re looking for an affordable smartphone right now, this is it. Fantastic deal.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Gold (MYR859)
Following not to far behind is the Galaxy J7. Rocking a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED, fast octa-core CPU with 3GB RAM, this upper rung entry-level phablet is packed with goodness. It’s lightweight and well-built, and you’ll also get a good 13MP f/1.9 rear shooter, and great 5MP selfie shooter with flash. The dual-SIM 4G LTE device packs 16GB of storage and a large 3300mAh battery. Good buy.
Xiaomi Mi Power Bank Pro 10000mAh (MYR119)
Everyone needs a powerbank. At least one. And if you need a fast-charging, high-capacity one, then the Mi Power Bank Pro is it. With USB Type-C support, and packing a high density lithium-polymer battery, it also boasts two-way 18W fast charge. And it’s mighty thin at only 12.58mm. The powerbank is enough to charge an iPhone 6 four time; or an iPad mini 1.5 times. Go Pro, or bust.
SanDisk Ultra II SSD 240GB (MYR369)
For under MYR400, you can give your Mac or PC a huge boost in performance (up to 25x in fact!). Windows or MacOS will boot in seconds, and you’ll enjoy the freakish fast 550MB/s sequential read speeds (up to 500MB/s write). It may be the mid-ranger in SanDisk’s SSD arsenal, but enough to give your work or game time the steroid it needs.
Ricoh Theta M15 360-degree camera + Instax Mini 8 combo (MYR999)
This is a pretty odd combo to be honest. On one side you have the most current technology – the increasingly popular 360 video or VR camera; on the other hand you have the retro cool instant film camera. The oddball combo is cool in its own way though. While you’re busy capturing the 360-degree world, you can also snap once in a lifetime memories on film. How awesome is that?
JBL C100SI in-ear headphones with mic (MYR29.90)
What can I say? I picked it because they’re JBL. And because they’re cheap. The C100SI is ultra-lightweight, and features an in-line mic with universal remote. It boasts JBL’s signature sound and a great accompaniment for your smartphone or portable media player. 30 bucks. Wow.
SanDisk Ultra 128GB Dual USB Drive 3.0 OTG (MYR115)
