About two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend the World Innovation Forum Kuala Lumpur (WIF-KL) 2013, themed “The Future We Desire” – a world-class expo covering the entire cycle of innovation including grassroots, education, commercialisation and integration of innovation. The three-day event brought together innovation leaders, policy makers, industry players, thinkers and innovators from around the work to share ideas and discuss issues related to innovation. I personally thought it was one of the best events I’ve attended this year, the other being the inspiring TEDxKL.
The region’s premier annual innovation event
WIF-KL 2013 was jointly organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Malaysian Innovation Foundation (YIM). Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the event saw over 1,500 delegates from over 25 countries participate in the forum, with over 10,000 visitors in the exhibition. In a nutshell, WIF-KL is a showcase of innovation to propel the region towards high-income advanced economy nations.
Some of the high profile speakers at WIF-KL included Goran Persson, former Prime Minister of Sweden; Sugata Mitra, global education superstar and Mark Gallagher, Grand Prix Motor Racing Boss.
