As expected, Lenovo brought its A-game to its annual Tech Life event at IFA 2019. A couple of days prior to the event, the #1 PC maker already announced some spanking new consumer and enterprise hardware, but that was merely a precursor for even bigger, smarter things to come. Lenovo unveiled a host of new devices spanning smart home, notebook, AR and mobile categories, encircled around its latest campaign “Smarter Technology for all.”
Smarter Yoga
If there’s one product line that defines who Lenovo is, it has to be the Yoga. Since its introduction, the Yoga line has been the benchmark in design and craftsmanship , as well as offering best-in-industry performance and innovation.
The new Yoga notebooks were engineered together with Intel as part of the Project Athena programme—enabling even thinner, lighter form factors with AI-powered features, future-proof connectivity, powerful performance, and all-day battery life.
The new 14-inch Yoga C940 and S740 pack the latest 10th Gen Intel Core processors and Windows 10. Making a debut on these two devices are Super Resolution—to upscale video up to FHD 1080p on Windows Media Player; and Q-Control, that dynamically boosts battery life with the help of AI-enhanced Intelligent Cooling Mode.
What’s interesting is Lenovo going all-in with Amazon Alexa. Now you can speak to Alexa even when the notebook lid is locked or asleep. She will respond instantly with pop-up messages that appear at the bottom of the screen.
Select Yoga devices also feature a familiar visual experience when managing smart home devices with the Alexa mobile app. Alexa now also supports multi-language without you having to change settings, currently offered in English and German.
The all-metal-clad 14-inch Yoga C940 features TrueBlock Privacy shutter, Windows Hello biometric authentication, a garaged pen with silo charging, and improved battery life of up to 17.5 hours (FHD) and 10.5 hours (UHD). It is powered by the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, packs super fast Wi-Fi 6 and comes with a redesigned Rotating Sound Bar with Dolby Atmos speakers. It boasts a Dolby Vision enabled display (up to 4K UHD resolution) with an engraved camera notch, making the lid easier to open.
The all-aluminium Yoga S740 is powered by up to 10th Gen Intel Core processor and optional NVIDIA GeForce GPUs. IT touts a hands-free IR camera login and time-of-flight (ToF) sensor. The ultra-light and ultra-slim notebook packs a 14-inch display, with up to 4K VESA400 HDR resolution and Dolby Vision-enabled; a Dolby Atmos Speaker System; plus upgraded Eye Care mode.
The notebook delivers up to 14 hours of battery life with RapidCharge (on optional FHD display).
The Yoga C940 is also offered as a 15-inch model, sporting a notched webcam on the lid for better grip; a garaged pen with silo charging, TrueBlock Privacy Shutter and Windows Hello biometric fingerprint authentication. There’s also Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, the latest Alexa features, as well as 9th Gen Intel Core processors and optional 4K VESA400 HDR display (500 nits).
The Yoga C940 15-inch also features the Rotating Sound Bar with Dolby Atmost Speaker System, and offers up to 12 hours of battery life.
Meanwhile, the Yoga S740 also comes in a 15-inch option. It’s stacked with up to the 9th Gen Intel Core i9 mobile processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX1650 GPU. The all-metal ultra-slim notebook packs a 15-inch FHD HDR display with Dolby Vision at 500 nits. It also comes with nifty features like the TrueBlock Privacy Shutter, and Dolby Atmos Speaker System with Smart Amp.
And we’re not done yet. There’s also an all-metal Yoga C740 available in 14-inch and 15-inch screen sizes, and offered in two stylish hues—Mica or Iron Grey. The lightweight 2-in-1 devices also offer TrueBlock Privacy Shutter, up to 10th Gen Intel Core i7 mobile processors, RapidCharge and Dolby Atmos Speaker System. The 14-inch Yoga C740 delivers up to 13 hours of battery life, while the 15-inch model offers up to 15. In terms of display options, the 15-inch model offers up to FHD VESA400 HDR touchscreen (500 nits and Dolby Vision), or an IPS FHD touchscreen display on the 14-inch model.
For those who prefer a more compact form factor, can opt for the 13-inch Yoga C640, which packs up to 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processors and a 360-degree flexible hinge design. The convertible device comes with optional, integrated 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, and offers up to 20 hours of battery life.
