Special vehicle registration plates are in high demand, and the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) literally rakes in the money on these.
Prime value numbers can fetch up from tens of thousands to millions. The latest to sell like hot cakes were “FB” – a series that was opened for bidding for two weeks in April. And now the results are out.
Announced as part of JPJ’s 72nd anniversary celebrations, bidding for FB 1 until FB 9999 was open to public. JPJ also announced a 70% discount on all summonses and compounds, valid until end of April 2018.
Results of the bidding was announced on 14 May 2018.
The priciest number in the series, as expected, was FB 1, also an acronym for “FBI” or the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This fetched top dollar – MYR660,000 to be exact.
Other numbers that attracted high bids were FB 5 (MYR152,800), FB 8 (MYR141,777), FB 11 (MYR110,000) and FB 3 (MYR108,130).
