HTC today announced that its VIVE Pro Starter Kit and VIVE Consumer Edition virtual reality (VR) headsets will hit the Malaysian market from 31 October 2018. The leader in VR systems also introduced VIVEPORT, HTC VIVE’s global platform, app store and subscription service.
For hardcore enthusiasts, developers and enterprise users, the VIVE Pro Starter Kit is a complete premium solution that includes a VIVE Pro HMD, two wireless controllers and two SteamVR tracking Base Stations with room scale capability.
The VIVE Pro HMD boasts dual-AMOLED 3.5-inch displays (2880×1660 combined), a 78 percent increase in resolution over rival VR systems. The headset also has integrated, high-performance headphones with a built-in amplifier for a more immersive audio experience.
The VIVE Pro Starter kit will be available for purchase towards the end of November at the price of MYR6,099. Consumers can pre-order online and in-store starting now until 31 December 2018. Pre-order customers will get a 3-month subscription ot VIVEPORT, VIVE’s app store for VR content.
For those looking to get started on the VR journey, the VIVE Consumer Edition offers a VIVE headset with dual AMOLED 3.6-inch displays (2160×1200 combined resolution), two wireless controllers and two SteamVR tracking Base Stations.
The consumer edition will be available for purchase via HTC’s online partners and major IT retailers starting early November. For early birds, HTC is offering a free 3-month subscription to VIVEPORT, limited to the first 200 customers.
VIVEPORT offers a curated library of over 1,400 diverse VR titles. A subscription allows customers to select five titles with unlimited access for MYR37.99 a month. There’s no monthly obligation and customers can cancel at any time.
In conjunction with the launch of the HTC VR kits, HTC VIVE will also enable VIVEPORT Arcade, a simple, intuitive content management system that allows arcade operators to flexibly control their VIVE VR stations.
