You can now use Boost to pay at UnionPay QR merchants in Malaysia, soon globally

Boost UnionPay

Homegrown and one of Malaysia’s leading e-wallets Boost has introduced several new features—BoostUP, its new rewards programme; CashUp, a new savings feature for online shopping; and UnionPay QR, which allows users to use the Boost e-wallet at UnionPay merchants nationwide, and soon globally.

Since it emerged on the scene two years ago, Boost has aggressively expanded its merchant partner and user base to 115,000 and 4.8 million users respectively, today. It also powers 24 cashless campuses and 120 religious institutions across the country.

From its humble beginnings as a way to buy prepaid top-ups, Boost has expanded its repertoire of services to cover on-street and gated parking, utility bills, order food delivery and roadside assistant services, book and purchase public transport tickets, make e-donations, as well as provide micro-financing and micro-insurance solutions to merchants.

BoostUp

One of the biggest draws of the app is Shake Rewards, a unique feature that lets a user shake their smartphones to earn a random cash back reward.

Boost has built stickiness to its app with features like Missions to encourage users to undertake various tasks in which they can earn various rewards with completed missions.

The company hopes that the new features will encourage new and existing users to make going cashless a part of their daily lifestyle.

Boost users can now pay at any UnionPay QR merchants in Malaysia, making the cashless journey more available and accessible. To start, users will be able to pay at almost 125,000 UnionPay QR merchants nationwide. Soon, you’ll also be able to pay with Boost at 11 million UnionPay QR merchants across 31 countries.

This service is available now and until 31 December 2019, users will enjoy an instant MYR3 cash back upon activation of the UnionPay QR payment service in their Boost e-wallet. Additionally, with a minimum spend of MYR300 at Duty Free, Dimensi Exklusif, Colours and Fragrance within any airport in the country, users will earn an instant cashback of MYR30.

The new BoostUP feature is a step up from the much-loved Shake Rewards. Just by performing regular daily transactions, users can earn coins and Shake Rewards. Boost says Shake Rewards are now bigger and better—extra coins, exciting prizes or Golden tickets. Coins can be used to redeems prizes including premium gadgets, entertainment and gaming content, cash back, vouchers, and more. Golden tickets can earn users once-in-a-lifetime experiences like a Mediterranean cruise, a day out with an A-list celebrity, a romantic getaway, and more.

For starters, Boost is giving out rewards and prizes worth MYR8 million including fuel vouchers as well as exclusive benefits when users flash the Boost app at selected partners in F&B, retail and airport lounges.

CashUp is a savings feature curated specifically for online shopaholics. Users can easily earn cash back of up to 13.5 percent from over 100 international and local online retailers including Shopee, Zalora, Lazada, Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Klook, Sephora, JD Sports, Kinokuniya, Amazin’ Grace, and many more.
