New ASUS ZenBook series sets the standard for most compact notebooks

ASUS has introduced the world’s most compact notebooks with its all-new ZenBook 13, ZenBook 14, and ZenBook 15. The premium thin and light range features the stunning new frameless Nano Edge display pushing up to 95 percent screen-to-body ratio for a near borderless viewing experience.

The Nano Edge display allows for a much more compact form factor, resulting in each new ZenBook model having the smallest footprint in its class. The ZenBook 13 for instance, is smaller than a sheet of A4 paper, and it’s both lighter and 29 percent smaller than a MacBook Air 13. Let’s also not forget it packs NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics and a whole host of I/O ports.

You’ll notice the familiar Zen-inspired spun-metal finish on the top cover, with a choice of Royal Blue or Icicle Silver anodised finishes. Both options feature a Rose Gold trim bar above the keyboard for a touch of luxury.

And it isn’t just about good looks. All models are torture-tested to military grade (MIL-STD-810G) reliability standards, excelling through demanding tests like extreme altitude, temperature and humidity, as well as extensive drop, shock and vibration testing.

The new series offers uncompromising performance too, featuring up to the latest 8^th Generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q graphics, 16GB of RAM, PCIE SSDs, Bluetooth 5.0 and gigabit-class Wi-Fi.

Remember the new ZenBook Pro 15 with its futuristic Screen Pad? Well, the new ZenBook 13 and ZenBook 14 boast something similar called the Number Pad. The Number Pad solves one of the pain points on notebooks – the lack of a dedicated numeric keypad. Now the numeric pad is built into the touchpad. It can be toggled by tapping the Number Pad icon on the top right corner of the touchpad. Once tapped, the full-sized LED-illuminated numeric keypad springs into life. The ZenBook 15, by the way, features a traditional physical numeric keypad and touchpad.

All models include an advanced 3D infrared (IR) camera which ensures reliable and fast face authentication via Windows Hello, even in dimly-lit environments. The ZenBook camera is located on the slim top bezel of the Nano Edge display.

Right off the bat, the new ZenBook series supports Alexa and Cortana.

In terms of connectivity and expansion, the notebooks feature USB Type-C, USB Type-A and/or USB 2.0, HDMI and a microSD or SD card reader.

Another ASUS innovation is the ErgoLift hinge, an engineering marvel that’s designed to automatically tilt the keyboard to comfortable typing position. The carefully calculated tilt also improves cooling and audio performance.

While slim and compact, the new ZenBook Series does not compromise on battery life. On a single charge, the ZenBook 13 offers 14 hours, ZenBook 14 delivers 13 hours, and the ZenBook 15 returns a commendable 17 hours of usage on a single charge.
