The improved and refined Apple Watch Series 5, which launched alongside the iPhone 11 series on 11 September, is finally available (OK, almost) in Malaysia. Previously, Apple had released pricing for its popular smartwatch but only for the GPS (Wi-Fi) version. The big news today is that the GPS + Cellular version is coming too. It goes on sale starting 1 November 2019, retailing from MYR2,199 (the non-cellular starts from MYR1,749).
The new Apple Watch Series 5 brings numerous enhancements and new features including a new Always-On Retina display, a built-in compass with a new Compass app, better safety, as well as new cases and straps. It’s the most customisable Apple Watch ever; the new Apple Watch Studio lets you pick your preferred case and band combination to create a style that’s uniquely your own.
The Always-On Display is a much-awaited feature, made possible with the new LTPO display coupled with a low power display driver. The display can deliver a variable refresh rate of 60Hz down to 1Hz.
The smartwatch also comes with new watch faces and complications optimised for the new always-on display.
The new Apple Watch retains the all-day, 18-hour battery life of its predecessor.
It comes in either a 40mm or 44mm case and packs an electric heart sensor and second generation optical heart sensor.
With the GPS + Cellular version, it comes with an eSIM for 4G LTE support. This means the watch can truly run independently, untethered from your iPhone. You’ll be able to make calls, send and receive iMessages, stream Apple Music and Spotify, while on the go.
