Acer Swift 7 is world’s first notebook to measure less than 10mm thin

Acer Swift 7

Acer had an early start at IFA 2016 – launching a portfolio of devices, including the astonishingly thin Swift 7 notebook. The Taiwanese PC maker also rolled out the Swift 5, Swift 3 and Swift 1 Windows 10-based ultra-thin notebooks.

Beyond thin

It’s a sight to behold, because the Swift 7 really is crazy thin. At 9.98mm, it’s the world’s first notebook to measure less than 10mm. It’s also featherweight, tipping the scales at just 1.1kg.

The dual black-and-gold finish on its all-aluminum unibody does bear some resemblance to the sexy HP Spectre, and the ASUS Zenbook 3.

Corning Gorilla Glass adds the needed protection on the 13.3-inch Full HD IPS display. You’ll notice how thin the bezel is too, optimizing display size without the desktop footprint. Note that this isn’t a touch screen panel, so if you’re the touch-feely type, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Under the hood, cutting-edge performance is delivered by the 7th Generation Intel Core i7 “Kaby Lake” processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD. Just so you know, the 7th Generation Intel Core i5 “Y” series is really a Core m based on its cutting-edge 14nm manufacturing process (ask Intel for details)

Fast 2×2 Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MU-MIMO will give you 3x faster connections. Included is also dual USB 3.1 Type-C ports for quick data transfers, connection to external display or to charge the Swift 7.

The Swift 7 also includes a HD webcam that supports HDR before better balanced images.

It has a huge trackpad (72mm) and a full sized keyboard. At first impressions, the keyboard has good travel and seems overall well-built.

Overall, a sweet premium package that’s going to give the MacBook and HP Spectre a run-for-the-money.
