Acer brings a new spin to extreme portability with new Spin 7

Alongside the new ultra-thin, ultra-light Swift series, Acer also flexed its portable muscle with its new Spin series at IFA 2016. Headlined by the uber versatile Spin 7 that incorporates an innovative 360-degree hinge, the Spin series run Windows 10 and is powered by new 7th Generation Intel Core processors.

The 13-inch Spin 7’s unibody is all-aluminum, providing portability and durability. Measuring just 10.98mm thin and weighing 1.2kg, the Spin 7 houses a 14-inch Full HD IPS Gorilla Glass touchscreen display.

Its sleek matte black chassis is complemented with polished silver hinges and diamond-cut edges around the large glass touchpad.

The Spin 7 isn’t just about good looks of course. It packs up to a 7th Generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 8GB of RAM and a fast 256GB SSD.

Thin as it may be, the versatile notebook still features dual USB 3.1 Type-C ports for fast data transfers, connection to an external display and for charging.

Spin 5

The Spin 5 features Acer’s unique 360-dgree dual-torque hinge and an aluminum top cover. It is powered by up to a 7th Generation Intel Core processor, features up to 10 hours of battery life and a 13.3-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen display.

It supports and optional Acer Active Pen that can be used with Windows Ink.

The Spin 3 features the largest display – with a 15.6-inch HD or Full HD display. This versatile workhorse is powered by 6th Generation Intel Core processors and up to 12GB of DDR4 RAM. The most expandable in the Spin range, the Spin 3 comes with both SSD storage up to 256GB) and hard drive (up to 1TB).

It packs a backlit ergonomic keyboard with 1.6mm keystroke and also delivers all-day productivity with up to 9.5 hours of battery life.

Targeted at students, the ultra-affordable Spin 1 comes in both 13-inch and 11.6-inch Full HD IPS display options. It features Intel Pentium or Celeron processors, and supports Acer Active Pen with Windows Ink.

Pricing and availability

The Acer Spin 7 will be available in North America in October, with prices starting at US$1,199/MYR4,886; EMEA in October from 1,299euro; and China in September with prices starting from RMB8,999.

The Acer Spin 5 will be available in North America in October with prices starting at US$599/MYR2,441; and in EMEA in September, with prices starting at 599euro.

The Acer Spin 3 will be available in North America in October, retailing at US$499/MYR2,033; and in EMEA in September, with prices starting at 599euro.

Lastly, the Acer Spin 1 will be available in North America in December, with prices starting at US$249/MYR1,015; and in EMEA in November with prices starting at 299euro; and China in October with prices starting at RMB2,999.
