Vivo Malaysia is painting the town red starting tomorrow, 12 May 2018 with a brand new colour variant of its vivo V9 flagship smartphone. The vivo V9 Velvet Red model retails at MYR1,399.
If there was such a thing as the perfect iPhone X clone, the vivo V9 might actually just be it. Without a MYR5,000 price tag, of course.
Vivo has carved a name for itself by offering products that mimics Apple’s smartphones as much as possible – from design down to the user interface. This while offering them at ridiculously affordable prices. It’s no wonder they fly off the shelves in China.
Credit to where its due, though, vivo does have some clever tech of its own. As seen on its fast-selling X21 flagship with its world’s first under-glass fingerprint sensor, vivo is more than capable of innovation.
The vivo V9 rocks a 6.3-inch FHD+ FullView display (2280×1080) with a 19:9 screen aspect ratio. The near bezel-less phone has no physical home button, boasting an astounding 90 percent screen-to-body ratio.
Now that Face Unlock is actually a “thing,” vivo is at the top of the game with its AI Face Access technology, possible via a front camera that’s embedded in a notch.
Hardware-wise, the vivo V9 doesn’t disappoint, powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chip, coupled by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Fortunately, there’s microSD expansion, pushing storage up to a possible 256GB more.
In terms of camera, the vivo V9 packs one of the biggest selfie cameras in the market today – a massive 24MP f/2.0 unit with AI-enhanced features. It’s inched out slightly by the OPPO F7.
The rear is a 16MP + 5MP f/2.0 dual-camera setup that isn’t shabby at all.
The device comes with a large 3,260mAh battery and it runs FunTouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
