OPPO F7 with massive 25MP selfie camera and AI Beautification is coming soon

OPPO F7

Things are going to get a little “notchier” and intelligent with OPPO’s upcoming F7 series. The successor to the OPPO F5 “Selfie Expert” will boast a whopping 25MP selfie camera, powered by artificial intelligence (AI).

The OPPO F7 rocks an expansive 6.23-inch FHD+ display (2280×1080) with a 19:9 screen aspect ratio. If you notice from the images, it packs a notch on the front, as if that’s any surprise.

The interesting bit is what lies beneath. Powering the device is the latest octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset that’s built on a 12nm manufacturing process. It’s MediaTek’s most intelligent SoC to date, boasting NeuroPilot AI technology with onboard face detection and AI-enhanced smart imaging and video.

It’s coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and comes with 64GB and 128GB storage options. For even more storage, you can expand via microSD.

Next up, the cameras. The OPPO F7’s claim to fame is the 25MP f/2.0 whopper on the front, enhanced with AI Beautification and HDR features.

The rear, surprisingly, uses a conventional single camera system-16MP f/1.8.

The fingerprint sensor is rear mounted, with an unusual oval shape.

As an alternative, you can unlock the phone with your face. OPPO’s Face Unlock feature uses AI recognition to map 128 points on your face.

The OPPO F7 features a 3,400mAh battery that charges via conventional microUSB. Unfortunately, it does not have VOOC fast charging.

The device runs ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

The OPPO F7 is slated for an April release, and is expected to come in two variants (4GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage). As an indication, the 4GB + 64GB storage model goes for INR21,990 which translates to about MYR1,310. The current OPPO F5 goes for MYR1,298.

Stay tuned for more updates closer to the launch.
