Twestival Kuala Lumpur is making a return after a hiatus in 2012. Part of the global Twestival movement, the coming Twestival KL will see social media user mobilizing efforts for social good.
Twestival KL, entirely run by volunteers will this year benefit Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Hulu Langat (PKKI), local non-profit and non-governmental organization. PKKI focuses on helping children who are physically and mentally challenged.
The first ever Twestival KL was held in 2009.
This year’s Twestival KL will be held on 7 December 2013 at The Bee, Publika, from 2pm to 6pm. Local celebrities supporting the event and performing at the event include Hansen Lee, Elaine Daly, Elvira Arul, Carmen Soo, Vince Chong, Will Quah, Chelsia Ng, Liang and Ray Cheong.
Entry to Twestival KL is by a minimum RM50 donation. To book your place (limited to 200 spots), email [email protected] or send a tweet to @TwestivalKL. A tax-exemption receipt can be obtain from PKKI upon request, for donations above RM50.
The global Twestival movement is a unique initiative where 100% of all funds raised go to the charity of choice, meaning the event operates on a zero budget and relies on sponsorship partner to make it happen.
Apart from the entry donation, funds are also raised through auctioning of sponsored items from brands like Malaysia Airlines, Nike Malaysia and The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, among others.
Action items will be posted onto from Nov 29 for public bidding. The auctions close on the day of Twestival KL (7 December), where attendees have one last chance to bid for items.
