Use your Touch ‘n Go eWallet to pay at LKSA and SMART Tunnel tolls

Touch 'n Go new app

In December last year, TNG Digital unlocked a new feature in its Touch ‘n Go mobile app that offered deeper integration between physical TNG cards and the app. The new feature allows users to use their physical TNG card for toll payments along the DUKE highway, with the balance deduced from the Touch ‘n Go eWallet. Now, TNG is extending this ability to cover LKSA (Lebuhraya Kemuning-Shah Alam) and the SMART Tunnel.

If you’re a little confused, let me attempt to explain. It gets even more complicated when you add RFID to the mix. But anyways…

One of the pain points and possibly the most requested feature is the ability to reload the TNG card via the phone/mobile app. At this juncture, it is still an elusive feature, but TNG is getting closer.

You can currently add up to three physical TNG cards to the app to manage the cards and keep updated with the balance.

In the case of toll payments, the physical TNG card that you’ve added to the eWallet can now be used as a medium to pass through all TNG and SmartTAG toll lanes. The fares will be deducted directly from your eWallet and not your physical TNG card.

All you need to do is just use your TNG card at TNG lanes as per usual, or in combination with a SmartTAG at SmartTAG assigned lanes.

It’s short of being able to reload the physical TNG card per se, but in this case, you’ll never have to, as far as toll payments are concerned.

However, in the event that there’s insufficient balance in your eWallet, toll fares will be deducted from the physical TNG card.

One caveat, the card balance and eWallet balance are separate and are not interchangeable.

The great thing about the integration is that you’ll always know the status of your TNG cards once you’ve added them to your mobile app. You won’t be caught with cards that are dormant, and you’re also not subject to card reload fees.

For added convenience, the TNG eWallet also supports auto-reloads via credit card, so you’ll never be caught without credit. You can set the amount to reload based on a preset minimum balance.

Through the app you can also check the last five TNG card transactions, as well as email card transactions of up to 90 days.

The Touch ‘n Go app is available for download for Android and iOS.
