Samsung’s yet-to-be-released smartwatch – the Gear S2 has sold out during a limited-time only pre-order offer. All 500 units of the next generation smartwatch were snapped up within 16 hours.
Samsung opened pre-orders for the Gear S2 last week. It went on record to say that the encouraging response gives the company confidence to further purse innovation in the wearables category.
The smartwatch will be available for sale from 27 November.
Just to recap, the Gear S2 is a departure from the previous Gear S, now with a circular form factor. Available in two variants – Gear S2 (sporty) and Gear S2 classic, it is powered by Samsung’s own Tizen OS.
With a 1.2-inch circular display and an intuitive, custom UX, this is Samsung’s best wearable yet. It features a rotating bezel that gives you a tactile way to navigate around the UI.
The smartwatch is a perfect fitness companion with a built-in heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyro and pedometer.
Battery life is claimed to be 2-3 days on average.
