Samsung kicking off round 2 of Galaxy Fold pre-order

Samsung Galaxy Fold

After selling out its pre-order on the first day last week, the Galaxy Fold will return for a second leg next week. Due to high demand, Samsung Malaysia will offer Malaysian consumers another chance to own its futuristic new device.

For those who missed the first pre-order, the second release of the Galaxy Fold will happen from 18 October 2019 onwards in limited quantities. It will be available at participating Samsung Experience Stores and Chain Store Retailers nationwide.

If you’re interested to get a first-hand experience of the folding phone, you can head over to any of the stores listed here.

The Galaxy Fold retails for MYR8,388 and is offered in Cosmos Black and Space Silver.

For pre-orders, Samsung offers Samsung Galaxy Fold Premier Service which includes a 24/7 Premium Careline, free on-site pick-up and delivery for Service Support within 12 months of purchase. Customers also enjoy Priority/Express Lane at Service Centres and one screen protection (1-time inner screen crack replacement within 12 months of purchase).

To recap, the refined and improved Galaxy Fold is a “new kind of device”—a device that’s beyond classification at this point. Reminiscent of the original Galaxy Note. However you want to categorise it, one thing is for sure, the form factor is certainly interesting.

For starters, there’s a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Display on the front. Unfold the metal-glass slabs and you’ll find an expansive 7.3-inch QXGA Dynamic AMOLED Display Infinity Flex Display.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Fold is overlaid with the powerful 7nm octa-core Exynos 9820 chip paired with 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. There’s a massive 4,380mAh battery that fast-charges via USB-C.

Mind-bogglingly, the Galaxy Fold sports six cameras—a triple-camera setup on the back, dual-camera on the inside and a single front-facing camera on the outside.

Crazy, but that’s what it takes.

On the software side of things, Samsung engineered the world’s first tri-panel multi active window mode. It’s also working with major developers like Google and Microsoft to take advantage of the new big format screen.

Impressed? Pre-order one starting 18 October 2019.
