I think it’s time to move beyond viewability, conversions, measurements discussions and think about your digital campaigns’ TRUE results. Is it even targeting real people or is it just based on some random cookie pool? Any random cookie pool from any DMP can give you all the success factors, which we have been imagining as success factors for our campaigns, i.e. viewability, conversions, measurements. Any conversation in the digital world takes a lot of time in debating and discussions and various POVs, but in the end, we lose focus on the fundamentals of advertising, i.e. addressing real people. How sure are we with our digital campaigns, if the numbers we are looking at in the excel sheet, post-campaign comes from the real consumers? Does it make an impact on the business target?
It’s the end of the year and some of us are still slogging at our desks when we really should be somewhere far away, just chilling. Oh yes, we all need that holiday. If you’re a Maxis employee though, you’re super lucky to have a cool CEO who knows just the thing to inspire and reward.
The heartbreaking news of #MH370 and now #MH17 is testament of how fragile and unpredictable life is. Calamity and tragedy can happen at any time, without prejudice.
I take a break from the normal tech-type posts to pen some personal thoughts (somewhat philosophical too). Bear with me. (Thanks to grammar Nazi Andrew for spotting the error :p).
Wow. Has it really been that long? It felt like yesterday when my mom told me, “Don’t grow up so fast.” I was 16. My dad also told me once when I was 12, “You can do (achieve) anything if you put your mind into it.” Two of the most invaluable tips that I’ve lived by since. I’ve been blessed with an incredible family, amazing friends, a colourful career and a rewarding, eventful life thus far.
Here are some handy life lessons I’ve picked up along the way in my short time on earth (no aliens were involved in this exercise).
Love is the essence of our being. So love with all your heart, be open to be loved, be vulnerable. Because the only time that you don’t… is when you’re dead.
If you’ve driven along Federal Highway towards Petaling Jaya, you may have caught a glimpse of this un-branded billboard. I stumbled upon this billboard a couple of days ago, and only today managed to take a quick snap on my phone camera while driving today. Arresting would be a word to describe it.
Kurt Donald Cobain, lead singer and guitarist of grunge band Nirvana, was also known as “the spokesmen of a generation”, responsible for cult anthems like “Lithium”, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and so much more. Nirvana was “the flagship band” of Generation X, but Cobain was often uncomfortable and frustrated with that label.
I woke up Friday morning with an unusual swell… no, no, not there… on my left foot. To be precise, it’s the balljoint where the big toe bends called the capsular ligament. Mobility of the big toe was limited and the ligament was swollen. The pain was of course, quite excruciating. I haven’t felt this much pain since I tore my MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) in 2008.
