To beloved Malaysia and Malaysians all around the world. Happy Merdeka!
Happy Birthday, Malaysia

This is certainly my favourite Yasmin Ahmad video. Kak Yas not only had balls, bravura and creative genius, she also had an incredible eye for finding talent.
What started as routine futsal practice with the full GanForHire All-Stars futsal team, fizzled out to a disappointing, painful, premature exit with torn bits in my left knee. The Corbis cup defending champions’s top striker limped out just after 20 minutes into the game.
There are approximately two billion children (persons under 18) in the world. However, since Santa does not visit children of Muslim, Hindu, Jewish or Buddhist (except maybe in Japan) religions, this reduces the workload for Christmas night to 15% of the total, or 378 million (according to the Population Reference Bureau). At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that comes to 108 million homes, presuming that there is at least one good child in each.
This is a tribute to Chiq who passed away today. For those who knew her closely knew she battled depression and for those who knew her as friends (like me) were blind and clueless to the fact that she, the bubbly person that she was, was indeed fighting to find a reason to not leave this dreaded planet.
Who do you think deserves TIME’s Most Influential People of the Year title? Steve Jobs? Rain? What? Rain? I can’t believe Rain is there (no offence to Rain fans)… Whoever you decide, cast your votes!
Even before officially collecting my iMac Intel Core Duo 17″, I’m already contemplating upgrade options. Being an Intel-based machine, and fortunately, a socket-based architecture, I not only have a processor upgrade path from the first gen Intel Core Duo 1.83Ghz chip (“Yonah”) to a faster chip, I can look at the latest 64-bit “Merom” Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which is socket and motherboard-compatible. The T7400 “Merom” is a low-power processor, suited for laptop applications.
Don’t they just beg to be adopted? I recently adopted a Golden Retriever, much like the one in the pic. Lovely, lovely dog. 100% thoroughbred too. Give these loving abandoned animals a new happy home. Or if you don’t want a dog or can’t have one, make a donation for the upkeep of the dogs.

Bash. Figurative – criticise severely. Believed to have originated in the 17th Century, perhaps a blend of bang and smash, and dash. Today seemed to me like bang everything and everyone Monday. Or has it always been bang everything and everyone, everyday day?
Hard to say. It’s always amusing to be in a car forum, and a self-proclaimed ‘car enthusiast’ forum at that, to witness bashing after bashing, especially threads which contain keywords “Proton” and “Alex Yoong”. It’s quite sad, not because of the actual debate (which is healthy to say the least), but the amount of blatant bashing based on rumours, uneducated guesses, presumptions and baseless accusations.
