Microsoft has announced the availability of Windows 8.1 for non-profit organisations. Through Microsoft’s software donation program, non-profits and public libraries can request for Windows 8.1, for free.

Microsoft wants the community to do the following:

  • Request for Windows 8.1. Organisations who are already on Windows 8 can simply upgrade to Windows 8.1 through Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).
  • Register for the Windows 8.1 webinar happening on Thursday, 14 November 2013, 11:00AM PT, hosted by TechSoup.
  • Encourage your favourite non-profit to learn about Microsoft’s software donation program and visit www.microsoft.com/ngo.

The TechSoup program is a program with a mission is to deliver technology and other capacity development resources to civil society organisations. Malaysia is covered by TechSoup Asia, a collaboration between TechSoup Global and regional partners Connecting Up Australia and Hong Kong Council of Social Services.

Interested parties must first setup an account with a local TechSoup partner either US only or international. If there is no TechSoup Global partner in your country, contact a local Microsoft Corporate Citizenship Office for more info, and to request for a software donation.
