5 things Magic UI 3.0 is bringing to Honor 20 and View20 series

Honor has announced that the latest Magic UI 3.0 update is arriving in batches to the Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, Honor View20 and Honor 9X smartphones. The Honor 10 Lite and Honor 20 Lite will receive the update in May.

The latest update will introduced a refreshed UX with a slew of user-friendly features, as well as a more seamless smart office experience, better photography, performance and enhanced security. Here’s a breakdown the five top features.

Dark Mode

Magic UI 3.0 gets Dark Mode, backed by research from the Huawei Human Factors Lab, which delivers optimal contrast between text and background. This increases overall legibility and minimises eye fatigue. That aside, colour saturation is also finetuned to ensure greater consistency between normal and Dark Mode.

Enhanced UX

With the new update, you can expect quick and smoother feedback when you navigate around the phone. Transitions between apps are smoother and you’ll notice more animated feedback when you tap on the screen. When you swipe up to minimise an app for instance, the animation follows the trajectory of the swipe, giving you stronger visual cues.

Seamless smart office

The upgraded Magic UI 3.0 works in line with Honor’s “1+8+N” all-scenario IoT strategy, designed for seamless cross-system interaction. You can easily connect your Honor View 20, Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro to a notebook PC by simply turning on the NFC and Wi-Fi functions and pairing both devices via Bluetooth or via QR code. Once paired, you can easily transfer images and files, as well as play music seamlessly.

Pro photography on the go

The new 3.0 update also brings enhanced camera features and tweaked UX. The camera app sports a more modernised look with a more visible zoom bar. This enables you to adjust the degree of magnification more easily. You can now also implement filters directly from the viewfinder before the shot is taken. When shooting video, you’ll get additional features like assistive grid, horizontal leveller and timer.

Ultimate security

All devices updated to Magic UI 3.0 will be safeguarded through the proprietary Trusted Execution Environment operating system. Certified with CC EAL5+, the microkernel achieves the highest level of security certification available for global consumer device operating systems.

Sensitive operations such as payment and authentication run through this isolated, secure system to prevent interception and theft. Data transfer and information storage between connected devices are secured and encrypted to guarantee privacy. Magic UI 3.0 also supports app sandboxing for standardised app permission management.
