Huawei has taken the wraps off its new flagship tablet—Huawei MatePad Pro 5G—Malaysia’s first 5G tablet. The tablet will go on sale starting 26 June 2020, priced at MYR3,299.
The MatePad Pro 5G is essentially the 5G version of the original MatePad Pro launched in April. You’ll find the 10.8-inch 16:10 2K QHD IPS display (2560×1600) with ultra-narrow 4.9mm bezels. Housed in a sleek unibody design, the device boasts an impressive 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio, the highest tablet SOT in the world.
The new tablet comes in an elegant vegan leather finish in Forest Green.
Under the hood, the top-of-the-line 7nm Kirin 990 5G SoC paired with the 16-core Mali-G76 GPU delivers top flight performance and power efficiency.
The device supports both non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) 5G as well as TDD/FDD multi-frequency bands offering a wide range of connectivity.
The Kirin chip also integrates Huawei’s proprietary Da Vinci NPU architecture which supplies the tablet with AI computing capabilities. Paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X memory and a 3D graphene cooling system, the tablet delivers expected compute and graphics performance while keeping cool at all times.
Weighing 460g, the compact tablet offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou.
Keeping things juiced is a large 7,250mAh battery that charges via USB-C. It supports 40W fast-charging, 27W wireless charging and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. In comparison, the non-5G model supports 20W fast-charging and 15W wireless charging.
The accompanying M-pencil supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and it can charge wirelessly when attached at the top of the tablet. The stylus will happily charge up in full within an hour.
The keyboard case doubles as a dual-angle stand and the keyboard offers 1.3mm key travel.
As seen on the MatePad Pro, Huawei has devised a couple of new features including Multi-Window for enhanced multi-tasking. That aside, Huawei App Multiplier lets you launch the same app side-by-side for added convenience and spontaneity.
Audio-wise, the MatePad Pro 5G comes with a quad-channel, quad-speaker system enhanced by Histen 6.0 3D stereo and tuned by Harman Kardon Audio.
