Lenovo today announced its new ThinkPad E14 and E15 business notebooks, powered by up to the AMD Ryzen 7 47000U processors with integrated graphics. The new SMB-focused devices offer an improved design, powerful performance, connectivity, and signature ThinkPad ultra-durability.

The new entry-level ThinkPads feature a new updated design with an improved 85 per cent screen-to-body ratio, offering 14-inch and 15.6-inch display options ranging from Full HD anti-glare 220-nit TN and 250-nit IPS panels.

For the first time, the ThinkPad E series comes in-built with a touch fingerprint reader and an optional IR camera with Glance by Mirametrix technology. The E14 tips the scales at 1.59kg while the E15 at just 1.7kg.

The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button, offering one-touch power and log-on.

On the other hand, the Glance feature responds to a user’s presence—automatically locking the notebook when the user steps away. It also offers a Snap Window and Snap Pointer function for multi-display setups.

For non-IR camera models, all ThinkPad models feature the ThinkShutter privacy camera.

Carrying the ThinkPad name, the duo has survived torturous MIL-STD tests, 21 extreme procedures covering 12 categories, to be exact. In short, they’re built tough and designed to withstand the harshness of everyday work and life.

Under the hood, the ThinkPad E packs up to a 7nm eight-core AMD Ryzen 4700U processor with integrated graphics, up to 16GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM, and up to 1TB of SSD (with dual PCIe NVMe SSD slots).

With a 45Wh battery, the ThinkPad E14 delivers up to 13 hours of battery life, while the ThinkPad E15 delivers up to 12.7 hours.

The ThinkPad keyboard is second to none—spill-resistant and offer the best and most accurate typing experience. Not forgetting the iconic TrackPoint and precision TouchPad that come as standard. The keyboard also includes new unified communication function keys.

In terms of expansion, both models offers a USB-C, one USB 3.1 Gen1/USB 2.0. HDMI, RJ-45 ports, and combo audio jack.

Connectivity-wise, they come with up to Intel Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.0.

In the audio department, the notebooks feature dual 2W Harman speakers with Dolby Audio and dual array mics.

Lenovo are one of the first PC makers to feature next-generation AMD Ryzen 4000 and Ryzen PRO 4000 processors in its line-up.
