Huawei’s affordable AMD-powered MateBook D 15 notebook is here

Huawei MateBook D 15

Huawei Malaysia has announced that its highly-anticipated Huawei MateBook D 15 notebook will be hitting Malaysian shores starting 18 January 2020. Malaysia is the first overseas market to offer the 15-inch notebook that flew off the shelves in China since its introduction in October 2019.

Targeted at both the professional and consumer segments, the Huawei MateBook D 15 is lightweight, powerful, stylish and packs an array of smart features. What more, it is priced aggressively from just MYR2,499.

Like its other siblings in the MateBook family, the notebook offers a FullView display, with razor-thin bezels of just 5.3mm thin all-around, delivering an outstanding 87 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The thin bezels and recessed camera help to shrink the form factor of the MateBook D 15, making it smaller than a typical 15-inch notebook. In fact, at 357.8×229.9×16.9mm, it’s one of the smallest and lightest 15.6-inch notebooks in its price band to date.

The 15.6-inch 16:9 IPS displays tops Full HD resolution (1920×1080) with a typical 178-degree wide viewing angle. The panel is TUVF Rheinland certified for low blue light emission, important for eye protection especially for long usage hours.

Under the hood the Huawei MateBook D 15 is powered by the 12nm AMD Ryzen 5 3500U mobile processor mated to AMD Radeon Vega 8 integrated graphics. It offers up to 16GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory with 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD and 1TB of HDD.

Connectivity-wise, the MateBook D 15 is in-built with dual-antenna WLAN (802.11a/b/c/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 5.0/4.2/2.1+EDR and NFC. NFC enables Huawei One Tap Share—a file transfer solution that lets you easily transfer images and videos from your NFC-enabled Huawei smartphone to the PC, and vice versa. Additionally, new cross-screen collaboration capabilities have been introduced, allowing you to share a single display; you can view the contents on your smartphone directly on the notebook. Peripherals connected to the notebook can also be used to navigate the smartphone.
