Alongside the global debut of the flagship Honor View20, Honor also revealed the Honor Watch Magic. The connected duo is heading to Malaysia on 26 January 2019.

The Honor Watch Magic offers similar underpinnings as its close cousin the Huawei Watch GT, but costing close to half the price. The Watch GT however, is the more premium of the two.

Honor’s latest smartwatch is made from the same material as Huawei’s – 316L grade stainless steel body with 5ATM water resistance. With 5ATM, you can take the Watch Magic on your swim runs. Being the more affordable of the two, Watch Magic loses the premium ceramic finish on the Watch GT.

The watch comes in Meteorite Black with a dual-tone black and red watch strap made from Italian cowhide on the front, and sweat-proof silicone rubber on the reverse.

It sports a 1.2-inch AMOLED display (390×390 @ 326PPI) which is a similar but smaller sized display compared to the Watch GT.

The Watch Magic also gets a substantially smaller battery – 178mAh vs 420mAh on the Watch GT. That said, Honor claims that its smartwatch can deliver up to seven days battery life on a single charge.

As a smartwatch, the Watch Magic gets most of the bells and whistles like fitness tracking, real-time heart-rate monitoring, GPS tracking (GLONASS, GALILEO) and daily activity tracking. Plus, it has Huawei’s TrueSeen 3.0 self-learning algorithm for efficient health tracking.

The watch also features TruSleep (certified by CBD at Harvard Medical School) for sleep quality monitoring.

Additionally, TruRelax monitors your blood pressure 24/7 using heart rate variability (HRV) data.

What’s a smartwatch without notifications right? The Honor Watch Magic alerts you of incoming calls, SMS messages, and even upcoming hotel stays and flight information.

Honor Magic Watch runs Huawei’s proprietary smartwatch operating system, and not Google Wear OS (Android Wear). This may be a deal breaker for some, seeing that right off the bat you’ll find a dearth of apps.

That said, if you’re looking for an affordable watch with good fitness tracking features, then the Honor Watch Magic may be the wearable for you.
