Garmin on Monday introduced the Venu—its new GPS smartwatch with a vibrant always-on AMOLED screen and boasting the broadest range of 24/7 health monitoring features in the market. The long-lasting Venu will be available for purchase starting 9 October 2019 at the Garmin roadshow in Mid Valley and at all authorised Garmin retailers.

The Venu offers the broadest range of 24/7 health monitoring features in the market including advanced sleep with Pulse Ox, new respiration tracking, abnormal heart rate alerts, menstrual cycle tracking, stress tracking with relax reminders, new hydration tracking, breath work activities, and more. The innovative Body Battery energy monitoring also lets you check energy levels at any given moment. This can be useful for scheduling workouts, rest times and sleep.

Venu’s new 1.2-inch AMOLED screen is the perfect canvas to display 40+ on-device animated workouts for strength training, cardio, yoga and Pilates. There’s also a robust suite of preloaded workout options on the watch as well as present workouts available to download from Garmin Connect. You can also “create your own” customisable workouts.

All workouts are compatible with Garmin Coach, which offers free training plans adapted to your goals and performance; complete with a virtual personal trainer for added motivation.

Battery life is up to five days in smartwatch mode, and up to six hours in GPS + Music mode.

The Venu’s comes built-in with GPS, wrist-based heart rate sensor, complemented by over 20 indoor and outdoor sports apps including Pilates, yoga, running, pool swimming, golf, and more. A new structured breathwork activity mode is designed to promote focus and relaxation.

When you’re ready to unwind and recharge, the Venu will keeps track of your sleep. It estimates light, deep and REM stages of your sleep. New respiration tracking measures the number of breaths per minute, while Pulse Ox gauges blood oxygen saturation levels. When you wake, you can review your sleep stats in Garmin Connect.

Aside from extensive health monitoring and fitness tracking capabilities, the Venu also provides all-day connection and smartwatch features.

You can receive smart notifications on your wrist–incoming calls, get messages, social media updates, calendar reminders, and more. Android users have the additional ability to reply to text messages directly from the watch.

With built-in storage, you can download songs or playlists from Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer, and listen to them on-the-go, untethered from your smartphone.

The watch also has incident detection (during select activities) and assistance; it can send real-time location to emergency contacts.

The Venu allows for personalisation including live watch faces, apps and widgets, available from the Garmin Connect IQTM store app. You can even use your own photos and turn them into watch faces.

The device is compatible with almost any smartphone from the Android and Apple camps.

Pricing and availability

The Garmin Venu retails for MYR1,799 and is available in Granite Blue with Silver Hardware*, Black with Slate Hardware, Light Sand with Rose Gold Hardware, and Black and Gold Hardware*.
