Despite myriad leaks that stole much of the thunder at Samsung’s Unpacked event in New York last night, the company still conjured some surprises. Alongside the star of the show – the Galaxy Note9, there was the Galaxy Watch, a new Samsung DeX, Samsung Wireless Charger Duo, Galaxy Home smart speaker and then there was this… Fornite for Android (Beta).
Samsung continues to play the productivity card with the Note series, unsurprising, with the power of the S Pen and the Note’s capabilities as a whole.
But let’s face, the mobile phone is for everything. It’s work. It’s play. It’s entertainment. It’s a connectivity device.
And like the old saying, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” And Jack plays Fortnite in his suit. Be like Jack.
It’s been in anticipation for months, and finally Epic Games’ insanely popular battle royale style “epic,” at least in beta form is coming to Android.
And it will be a Galaxy Note9 and Galaxy devices (S7 and above, Tab S3 and above) exclusive until 12 August 2018.
Galaxy Note9 and Tab S4 users will get an exclusive Galaxy in-game skin.
To get the game, users need to download the game via Samsung Game Launcher and not Google Play.
With powerful innards including the octa-core Exynos 8910 or Snapdragon 845, a new liquid-cooling system and up to 8GB of RAM, the Note9 is already a gaming phone without needing to be one.
The Galaxy Note9 is on pre-order from today until 19 August 2018. The Malaysian launch is set for 15 August 2018, with general availability from 24 August onwards.
The 128GB base model (with 6GB RAM) retails for MYR3,699, while the top end 512GB model retails for MYR4,599. Lower than expected for Malaysian folks but that’s not all.
As detailed in this post, buyers will get a Gear Sport when they pre-order the 128GB model. The 512GB model will come with a Gear Sport, strap and Samsung Wireless Charger.
