Last chance to book the Proton X70 SUV for MYR99

Proton X70

PROTON’s first ever sport utility vehicle (SUV) and most technologically-advanced vehicle to date is set to make a debut in November. The Geely-owned national carmaker has been previewing the Proton X70 to the press and members of the public since last month. Online pre-orders for the SUV kicked off on 8 September 2018 where interested customers can put their names on the order books for just MYR1,000. PROTON is making the deal even sweeter with a “flash sale” running from 17-20 October 2018.

During the three-day promotional period you can book the Proton X70 for just MYR99. Pre-bookings for the X70 are done via PROTON’s corporate website, which PROTON says is its first vehicle to offer this service on its new online booking portal. Technically speaking though, the limited edition PROTON Satria R3 was the first “PROTON” to offer online booking. This was in 2004.

Proton X70 SUVTo book the X70, you are required to provide your personal details, select your X70 variant and colour, as well as the city and state you wish to collect your car. Once you’ve paid for the booking fee online, a system-generated receipt will be sent to your registered email address.

A Proton sales adviser will contact you within seven days to process the booking. In case you change your mind (of course they hope you don’t), the booking fee is fully refundable.

According to Paultan, if you book the vehicle during the flash sale you’ll get a cooler box worth MYR200. The balance of the booking fee (MYR901) can be paid at the sales outlet. By the way, upon paying the balance, you’ll receive a branded dashboard camera valued at MYR300.

There’s also a “privilege booking” option that is available now until the launch date. Pay MYR1,000 and you’ll receive two X70s. Yes, you heard that right. Just a matter of scale. Apart from the actual X70, you’ll also receive a 1:18 scale die-cast model. You’ll receive all gifts together with the X70 during delivery.

PROTON says early bird gifts are also applicable for those who book the X70 at physical outlets.

The X70 continues to be previewed. After the Klang Valley and Kuching, previews will continue in Kuantan and Ipoh, with a final session to be held in Kota Kinabalu.

Hi, Proton

PROTON’s new SUV is the most advanced vehicle ever in its product lineup. It comes with an embedded eSIM, Wi-Fi connectivity, preloaded apps that offer services like online radio and music, navigation and weather forecasts. What’s cool is that it is integrated with advanced voice recognition software that enables you to control different aspects of the car simply by speaking a voice command.

Let’s not forget the 360-degree camera that scans the surroundings to show you a 3D view of obstacles surrounding the car. There’s also autonomous braking and adaptive cruise control, just to name a few.

Proton X70 SUVThe PROTON design team did light changes to the overall design of the X70, which otherwise is a facelifted Geely Boyue. There’s some Malaysian flavour on the front grille with a unique winged treatment with the Proton badge, encased in chrome.

PROTON spent much of its effort and resources in properly converting the vehicle from left-hand drive to right-hand drive which explains its light-handedness in changing the Geely design too much. You can expect the next iteration of the X70 to have more substantial design changes, plus it will be CKD (completely knocked down) version in the future.

The X70 is offered in four variants: entry-level Standard 2WD, Executive 2WD, Executive AWD and Premium 2WD. All variants will feature a 1.8-litre TGDI turbo-charged four-cylinder petrol engine outputting 181hp and 285Nm of torque.

Variants

Colour options include Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey, Cinnamon Brown, and Flame Red (options depends on vehicle variants). Interior trim options include black fabric, black leatherette, and the top-of-the-line brown nappa leather (Premium 2WD variant only)
