One of the heavyweights at Computex 2014 in Taipei, Acer, has been honoured with two prestigious Computex Taipei Design & Innovation (d&i) awards for outstanding industrial design. The winning products are the Acer Aspire V 13 notebook and Aspire U5-620 All-in-One PC. Acer’s V6 series monitors earlier grabbed Best Choice Green ICT awards, also at Computex.

The d&i Awards is jointly hosted by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council and world-leading industrial design institution, iF Design annually, to recognise products for design excellence and innovation.

Acer Aspire V 13 notebook

The 13-3 inch Acer Aspire V 13 notebook sports a simple, clean and elegant form factor, with a 19.65mm thin profile, and weighs just 1.5kg. Its unique aluminium cover is created with Nano Imprinting technology that gives it a refined, sophisticated look. Available colours are dark gray and white.

The Aspire V 13 comes preloaded with Windows 8.1 and is powered by a 4th generation Intel Core i processor, comes with up to 16GB RAM and optional SSD or HDD drive of up to 1TB of storage. It features a full-sized keyboard and Precision Touchpad that supports Windows 8.1 TouchPad gestures.

The Aspire V 13 also comes with a HD webcam, digital mic, Wi-Fi and Gigabit ethernet LAN. Battery life is claimed to be up to 7 hours.

Acer Aspire U5-620 All-in-One PC

The Acer Aspire U5-620 AIO is a stylish, ultra-modern AIO PC features a 35mm slender side profile, a sophisticated silver frame and innovative angle-cut aluminium alloy stand. The stand lets users lay flat or tilt the PC with just one finger, thanks to its innovative back hinge.

The superbright 23-inch Full HD IPS display comes with 10-point edge-to-edge multitouch, and comes with an anti-fingerprint coating to reduce fingerprints.

Multimedia is certainly one of its key strong points, packing a 1080p web cam, dual array microphone with AcerPurified.Voice and front-facing Hi-Fi speakers.

The AIO comes outfitted with a 4th generation Intel Core processor, optional NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics card and comes pre-installed with Windows 8.1. It supports up to 8GB RAM and up to a 1TB hybrid drive. It also sports 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

Both devices supports Acer’s Build Your Own Cloud (BYOC) service, enabling users to build their own cloud on their devices and to reliably and securely share data across users’ devices.
