Powerful LG Gram notebook weighs 980g, coming to Malaysia in 2H 2016

LG Gram

At the LG Convention 2016 held in Kuala Lumpur, LG Malaysia previewed its ultraportable 15-inch LG Gram. The notebook weighs a scant 980g, and packs blazing fast 6th Generation Intel Core i processors.

The LG Gram looks good, built with lightweight but durable magnesium alloy.

The 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display has a great viewing angle and delivers good colour, all this packed in a superthin bezel.

Underneath, it boasts a 6th Generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor with Intel HD Graphics 520, mated with up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB SSD storage.

In terms of communications, there’s dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth combo. There’s also a 10/100Mbps LAN port (USB Type C port) and Bluetooth 4.0.

Despite its scant weight, it packs plenty of ports including HDMI, USB 3.0 Type C, 2x USB 3.0, USB 2.0, micro-SD, and mic jack.

On the audio front, it comes with a built-in Cirrus Logic DAC and stereo speakers.

The ergonomic keyboard comes with dedicated numeric keys for ultimate productivity.

The LG Gram will be hitting Malaysian shores in the second half of 2016. The Core i5 variant is expected to be priced at MYR4,500, while the Core i7 option will start from MYR6,700.

Initial impressions

The LG Gram is unbelievably light. And I mean featherlight. Which makes it entirely deceiving because it packs such great hardware underneath. It will be interesting what response will be like when it hits the market later in the year.
