YesToRio launch

Ola! To celebrate the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup and the love of football, Yes has launched its #YesToRio online game contest. The nationwide online contest runs from 3 April to 31 May 2014. Two grand prize winners will get a once-in-a-lifetime, all-expense paid trip to watch the final match of the biggest sporting event of 2014 – happening in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

We were at the launch at Lot 10 Shopping Centre, where YTL Communications Executive Director Dato’ Yeoh Soo Keng, Chief Executive Officer Wing K. Lee and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Jacob Yeoh were present to officially kick-off the exciting new campaign.

Wing said, “Since one of the biggest football events is around the corner, we at Yes want to take this opportunity to celebrate football fever with Yes subscribers as well as everyone else in Malaysia with our brand new online game contest #YesToRio.”

Three top scorers of each game of the week will be rewarded with exclusive spots merchandise, including original jerseys autographed by some of the world’s well-known football icons, footballs and sports backpacks.

Bob the Referee#YesToRio is a series of three fun web-based games – first up is “What a Save!,” followed by “The Big Match” and “G-G-G-Goal!,” the latter to be released later during the contest period. The goal of the game is to score as many points as you can. But wait, that means you’ll have to first get past the mean and cranky Bob the Referee, and he’s no pushover.
The first game involves Bob the Referee who throws footballs and other irrelevant items at you. You need to ‘save’ the flying balls that are hurled at you, and avoiding non-football items. There are different coloured footballs, and if you save a few in succession you stand to score more points. Save as many footballs as you can within the stipulated time. I can tell you this, Bob the Referee is mean and he’s not going to let you save them easily. As you progress, he hurls more stuff at you at an increasing pace. He’s mad. Who said it was easy?

The second game, which was just released is just as challenging and fun. It’s an item matching game and tests your memory. Open lockers that contain different items. You need to match the item to an identical item in another locker. Sound easy? Well, beat the clock. I’m better at this than What a Save, though.

My accumulated score for the week puts me in the Top 40, which is a little far from me winning any sort of gifts.  My accumulated score for both games overall puts me in the #126 spot. I’ll keep trying. You get 5 attempts before you need to wait for an hour before getting more attempts again.
