Xiaomi has taken the wraps off the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro in Malaysia. This follows the introduction of the Redmi Note 9S last month.

Redmi Note 9 Pro pricing and availability

Xiaomi is offering a single variant–the Redmi Note 9 Pro 6GB RAM + 128GB storage for MYR1,099.

The device will be available from 18 May onwards at Lazada and authorised retail stores. You can pre-order from 11-17 May; buyers will receive a free Redmi Powerbank 10,000mAh.

Redmi Note pricing and availability

Two variants of the Redmi Note 9 will go on sale starting 18 May 2020:

  • 3GB RAM + 64GB storage ā€“ MYR649 (Shopee flash sale)
  • 4GB RAM + 128GB storage ā€“ MYR749 (available at authorised retail stores)

Look out for the 3GB RAM + 64GB storage which will be offered for just MYR599 in a flash sale on 16 May 2020.

You can pre-order the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant from 11-17 May.

With the new Redmi Note 9 series debut, Xiaomi has reduced prices of the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro to MYR599 and MYR899 respectively.

Redmi Note 9 features

As a quick refresher, the Redmi Note 9 comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS display and runs on the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, paired with up to 4GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. It is equipped with a quad-camera setup on the rear consisting of a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide-lens camera, 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. It features a large 5,020mAh battery that supports fast-charging via USB-C. In the box, you will find a 22.5W fast charging power brick. Xiaomi has retained fan-favourite features like the headphone jack and IR blaster on the device.

Redmi Note 9 Pro features

The range-topping device shares similar underpinning with the Redmi Note 9S, including the 6.67-inch FHD+ display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor. It is armed with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The quad-camera system comprises a 64MP main shooter (an upgrade from the Note 9Sā€™ 48MP), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. It features the same 5,20mAh battery but supports higher 30W fast-charging via USB-C. A 33W fast-charging brick is bundled in the box. The device packs NFC support and comes with a headphone jack and IR blaster.
