Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro launching in India on Valentine’s Day?

Xiaomi may be introducing the successor to the Redmi Note 4 in India tomorrow, on Valentine’s Day. The Redmi Note 5 and higher spec Redmi Note 5 Pro will feature an all-new design including a full-screen 18:9 display, beefy internals and up to a dual-camera setup.

The standard Redmi Note 5 is speculated to feature a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display, and powered by the power-efficient Snapdragon 625 processor. It will come with a 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, or 4GB RAM + 64GB of storage variant.

It is said to pack a single 12MP main shooter, as well as a front 5MP unit.

Like its predecessor, it is expected to feature a big 4,000mAh battery and will run MIUI 9.5 based on Android Nougat.

Moving up a notch is the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which features an expansive 5.9-inch Full HD+ display and run on the new 14nm Snapdragon 636 chipset with Kryo 260 cores.

The big whopper of a surprise is the 6GB of RAM + 64GB on the high-spec variant, a first for the Redmi series to hit that amount of RAM.

The lower spec variant will come with 4GB of RAM + 64GB of storage.

The Pro will boast a vertically aligned dual-camera setup consisting of 12MP + 5MP cameras. The front will also get a beefy shooter—20MP. Redmi Note 5 Pro

Battery-wise, it may be getting a similar unit as its lesser Redmi Note 5 sibling.

Additionally, Xiaomi is also teasing with what looks like its Smart TV, set to launch in the Indian market for the first time. In fact, this would be the first market outside of China to receive the Mi TV. A testament to how important the India market is for the China tech giant.

The big reveal will happen at noon in India (2.30PM MYT), so stay tuned for updates!

And, Happy Valentine’s Day in advance.
