Western Digital has unleashed its WD Blue and WD Green solid state drives (SSD), the first WD SATA client SSDs. Made for instant-on responsiveness, durability and low power consumption, they are perfect for notebook or desktop PCs.
WD Blue and WD Green SSDs boast near-maximum speed of SATA drives – that’s in excess of 500MB/s sequential read and write speeds. Moreover, you’ll get best-in class endurance, MTTF and WD Functional Integrity Testing (F.I.T) Lab certification. MTTF is defined as mean tie to failure – essentially the length of time a device is expected to last in operation. This is especially important with components like storage.
The new drives boast industry-leading 1.75 million hours MTTF, complemented by reduced power consumption and reduced heat, compared to conventional HDDs.
WD SSD Dashboard software, available as a free download, allows you to monitor performance and capacity.
If performance is what you’re looking for, WD Blue will be the drive for you. Offering up to 545MB/s and 525MB/s sequential read and write speeds, it also has endurance up to 400 TBW. They’re perfect for notebook or a desktop PC set-up, and is available in 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacities – in both 2.5-inch/7mm case or M.2 2280 form factor.
WD Blue hits stores starting end October.
WD Green SSDs are essential-class flash drives for everyday computing. Available only in 120GB capacity, they’re offered in both 2.5-inch/7mm case or M.2 2280 form factor.
Despite its ultra-low power-draw, WD Green is no slouch – with up to 540MB/s and 405MB/s sequential read and write performance, and endurance of up to 80TBW.
WD Green will be available starting November 2016.
Both WD Blue and WD Green are protected by a 3-year limited warranty. Both drives also come with one year complimentary data recovery service from Kroll Ontrack. For details, visit www.ontrackdatarecovery.com.sg/dr-wd-my.
