20 years is a long time. To be in the leadership position for two decades is no mean feat. Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has everything to celebrate for as it achieves the milestone of being the undisputed #1 inkjet printer brand in Malaysia for the 20th year running. At a celebratory event held in Penang, Canon also rolled out a whopping 13 new printers in five of its printer model ranges.
New models that made their debut include the PIXMA Ink Efficient E & G series printers, PIXMA All-in-One Photo Printer, MAXIFY Business Inkjet printers; and imageCLASS Laser printers – made to suit every printing need at home and in the office.
Speaking at the event, Andrew Koh, president and chief executive officer of Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd said as a brand, Canon needs to establish touchpoints with its customers and not just from a technology standpoint. But also through excellent customer service experience.

PIXMA Ink Efficient E410 and E470 are for the cost conscious – driving affordability with low-cost, high yield ink catrideges. It can generate up to 400 monochrome documents and up to 180 pages of colour documents per cartridge.
Wi-Fi capability on the E470 makes home installation easy, and connectivity to your mobile devices and notebooks a cinch, even without a wireless router. It even supports Google Cloud Print, so you can print via the internet.
With the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app, you can also wirelessly print and scan documents and photos via your Android mobile devices.
Best photo prints for Home and SOHO
In this day and age, everyone is armed with a smartphone. And people are snapping photos. Instead of leaving those memories in the virtual world, PIXMA photo printers help deliver memories you can touch and feel.
The new PIXMA All-in-One Photo Printer TS8070 and TS5070 are stylish and compact, and deliver impressive high quality prints.
The flagship TS8070 rocks a 6-colour hybrid ink system and also comes with a 4.3-inch colour touchscreen LCD. It has a full automated operation panel and self-extending paper output tray. It supports auto two-sided printing, and printing from memory cards.
Meanwhile, the TS5070 comes with a 3-inch colour LCD Panel, Document Removal Reminder function as well as support for 5”x5” paper media sizes.
Both printers have Wi-Fi capabilities built-in as well as NFC for easy connectivity to Android devices.
If you’re looking for high volume printing, with the ability to copy and fax at affordable pricing, then the new PIXMA Ink Efficient G4000 Refillable Ink Tank printer may be perfect.
It supports up to 6,000 pages of black and white documents, and 7,000 pages in colour before requiring a replacement.
Space-conscious users will appreciate G4000’s space saving design (ink tanks are inside the body).
With Wi-Fi out-of-the-box, it allows for easy connectivity with mobile devices – whether for printing or scanning. It can be paired to iOS and Android devices to print from local sources, cloud storage or even social media platforms.
Additionally, it has a 20-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), Document Removal Reminder function and a new ID Card Copy feature.
Office printers, sorted
In an office environment, speed and optimal functioning are important aspects in picking a suitable printer. The multi-functional MAXIFY Business Inkjet Printers MB5470 and MB5170 as well as single-function iB4170 can generate up to 24 images per minute for monochrome prints and 15.5 pages per minute for colour. The printers can be set to maximum speed when peak printing speeds are warranted – up to 32.5 ppm for black-and-white and 26.5pp in colour.
Quick First Print technology delivers speedy and consistent printouts, and large 500-sheet capacity casettes (MB5470 and iB4170); and 250-sheet cassette (MB5170) ensures printing efficiency.
The printer trio supports the unique ID Card Copy function and Canon PosterArtist Lite software for editing purposes.
There’s a host of management and document security features that cover copying, scanning to USB flash drives and email, changing LAN settings and support for IP Address Filtering. Support for Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for multi-device management and monitoring via fleet management apps like Canon’s imageWARE Enterprise Management Console (iWEMC) and PrintFleet comes built-in.
Laser printers for corporations
It isn’t just inkjets that get all the attention. Canon’s laser printer arsenal is impressive, too. In fact, Canon is the leading player in the laser printer segment, in Malaysia.
Made for medium to large corporations and government departments are the imageCLASS LBP351x and LBP 352x Monochrome Single Function Laser Printers; imageCLASS LBP841Cdn A3 Colour Single Function Laser Printer and imageCLASS MF416dw and MF515x Monochrome Multi-Function Laser Printers.
If you’re looking for ultimate speed, the imageCLASS LBP351x and LBP352x happens to be the fastest printers in the imageCLASS range. How fast? 55ppm and 62ppm respectively.
They’re equipped with Canon On-Demand Fixing technology, Gigabit Ethernet, and high 1GB of memory enabling super fast first print-out times of 7.0 to 7.2 seconds.
It isn’t just about speed. In terms of paper handling, the standard cartridge can yield up to 11,000 pages, while the high yield option delivers up to 25,000 pages. Upgrades come in 3,600 sheets at a time using multiple cassettes. There’s also support for high-speed A5 and A6 sheets.
Corporations and government agencies can count on the imageCLASS LBP841Cdn, for high volume colour printing. The A3 Colour Single Function Laser Printer produces 26ppm (A4) and 15ppm (A3) in both monochrome and colour. First print out time is less than 10 seconds.
imageCLASS LBP841Cdn can deliver up to 13,000 pages for black cartridge and 16,500 pages for colour cartridges.
Moving on, imageCLASS MF416dw and MF515x are monochrome multi-function (print, scan, copy, fax) laser printers for businesses. They deliver print speeds of 33ppm and 40ppm respectively, and support two-sided printing, auto duplex scanning and paper capacity of a maximum of 800 and 1,600 sheets.
The new LBP351x, LBP352x, MF416w and MF515x pack PCL language and Adobe Postscript 3 support, as well as advanced fleet management solutions like Department ID and Native Secure Print.
All imageCLASS printers are energy efficient and support mobile printing with Canon PRINT Business, Apple AirPrint, Google CloudPrint and Mopria.
