Three big global brands from different verticals – Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia (“Standard Chartered”), WeChat and Sony Mobile are partnering in conjunction with the biggest running event in the country – the Standard Chartered KL Marathon (SCKLM).
The one-of-a-kind partnership reflects a strong, shared objective to reach out to the Gen-Y demographic by leveraging on social media and different approaches to promote overall health and wellness.
The partnership represents historical significance too, as Standard Chartered has become the first bank to work with leading social messaging platform WeChat.
Via WeChat, the official Standard Chartered MY account will be providing live updates of the marathon.
Additionally, the two parties will work with Sony Mobile to launch the Sony SmartBand, All marathoners will be entitled to purchase the fitness tracker at a special price.
The bank has also launched its JustOne Marathon Bonus Promotion, where the first 5,000 new accounholders who sign up for the JustOne account will receive a RM120 discount for the purchase of the Sony SmartBand or Sony Xperia phones.
Every successful application will receive a promo code via SMS, and subsequently customers can log on to www.sc.com/my/sonywechat to purchase the device of their choice.
The promotion runs till 31 July 2014.
Customers and marathoners can follow the official account on WeChat (ID: standardcharteredmy) to receive a RM100 off the retail price of the Sony SmartBand (RM399). Also receive latest updates, promotions, privileges, running tips, running clinics and latest announcements on the marathon.
Participation for the marathon has been increasing every year since its inception with last year’s SCKLM registering over 33,800 runners.
Dirigo Events, organiser of SCKLM, is expecting the number to grow even bigger, with a allocated 35,000 slots opened to the public.
With its new tagline “Confident. Committed. Courageous,” SCKLM, now it its sixth year, is again set to promote a healthy lifestyle, enhance people’s confidence and to celebrate courage and the human spirit.
