The much-awaited (and possibly most intense) eighth and final season of Game of Thrones is just days away. To prepare you for this grand finale, Spotify has released seven different house-themed playlists, exclusively curated by HBO.
House Stark, Lannister or Targaryen? Whichever oozes in your blood, you can find these playlists on Spotify by heading to TV & Movies hub to enjoy the songs, scored by composer Ramin Djawadi. The songs are related to each family’s journey on Game of Thrones thus far.
Alternatively, you can access them directly through these links:
- House Baratheon
- House Targaryen
- House Stark
- House Lannister
- The White Walkers
- The Night’s Watch
- The Great Houses
Fans of Game of Thrones are also fans of the music, says Spotify. There have been more than 380 million streams of all Game of Thrones soundtracks and related playlists on Spotify since 1 January 2016. More than 250,000 listeners have also created their own GOT-themed playlists and many have created character playlists.
What’s interesting is that Tyrion Lannister has the most fan-made playlists—more than 7,700 in fact! Could this be a hint that listeners think he should sit on the Iron Throne?
Another big draw is the soundtrack by Djawadi, which gives you instant recall of the characters’ most dramatic moments. The most streamed globally and Malaysia is “Light of the Seven”—the piece you hear when Cersei blows up the Sept of Baelor in the hair-raising Season 6 finale. It is also the most streamed Djawadi composition since 1 January 2016.
In time for Season 8, Spotify has unveiled a rock-influenced playlist “Game of Thrones: The End is Coming” (formerly named “Game of Thrones: Songs of Ice and Fire”)—a collaboration between GOT co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and Spotify. Check out this blog post to learn about the playlist’s aim to create a consistent, pulse-racing vibe.
