SOCAR fleet grows to 400, now available in over 200 zones

Fast-growing car-sharing platform SOCAR has just announced that it has hit a new milestone with its fleet – now 400-car strong. It has taken the company just a little over a month to achieve this new number, after hitting the 300-car mark in May. The South Korean startup also revealed that it has expanded availability of its service to over 200 zones.

Since it entered the Malaysian market in January, SOCAR has been working hard in increasing availability of its services and expanding its fleet. It aims to grow its fleet to 1,000 cars by the end of the year. Judging from the pace it is adding new vehicles to the mix, it’s a realistic target.

In slightly over a month, the service has added 73 new zones covering 18 neighbourhoods around Klang Valley and Cyberjaya.

A strong proponent of “multi-flexing,” SOCAR knows that availability of its service is crucial. So, the more areas or zones people can rent SOCAR, the better.

As important as availability is affordability. One of SOCAR’s key selling propositions is how cheap it is to rent a car, whether it’s for a couple of hours, or days. Rates start from as low as MYR8 per hour with various types of cars including super minis, C-segment (and now D-segment) sedans, SUV/MPV as well as sporty hatches like the 3-door MINI. It recently added a hybrid vehicle to the mix – the BMW 330e luxury sedan.

With regular promos like the current “7878” promo, rides can be even cheaper, encouraging to use the service more frequently or entice more people to try out the service.

The other fantastic thing about SOCAR is that petrol is included for free – up to 30km per hour, or 300km per day. There’s a petrol card included in each car so that it’s easy to fill up when the car’s low on fuel.

Each SOCAR also has a designated parking spot, whether it’s in the basement of a building or shopping complex, office block or even LRT station.

Adding a new dimension to its service is its free D2D (door-to-door) feature where you can have a SOCAR delivered to your doorstep, currently limited to Bangsar and Mont Kiara.
