Sharp Celebrates 100 Years with “Anniversary Share” Campaign


Mention Sharp and flashes of TV sets, radios, calculators, fridges and PDAs will come to mind. The Japanese electronics giant has a rich history in the consumers electronics segment all around the world. I distinctly remember Sharp scientific calculators, TV sets and the Sharp Zaurus PDA.

Time does fly and in September this year, Sharp celebrates its 100th anniversary – quite a milestone, considering its humble beginnings in a metal workshop in Tokyo back in 1912. Founder Tokuji Hayakawa invented many things, but the highlight was the Ever-Sharp mechanical pencil in which Sharp Corporation derived its name from. The rest as they say is history.

One hundred years is a long time. And in more ways than one, through its diverse portfolio of products and services, Sharp has touched the lives of many and for many generations connected with people of all walks of life.

To celebrate 100 years of memories, Sharp is running a “Anniversary Share” campaign. This is to thank its customers for the undying 100 years of support they have given the brand. Sharp sets its sights for the next 100 years of more innovative products and services.

The Sharp 100 Years campaign website is slick and intuitive, so do pay a visit. The other reason to do so is for you to participate in “Anniversary Share”.

“Anniversary Share” is a simple contest you can participate it. All you need to do is post a memorable picture or video, and tell Sharp a little about your memory. It can be an anniversary or other commemorative moments of you, your family and your friends.

This contest runs from 16 June 2012 through to 15 September 2012 and covers Indonesia, Malaysia, SIngapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand and UAE. Two pairs of selected participants will win an exclusive trip the West Coast of USA! Top five ranking pictures and videos will also received Sharp products.

That’s not all. Your images and videos submissions will be used to create a memorable “Anniversary Share” movie which will be displayed through the website during the campaign period.

Results announcements will be on October 15, 2012.
