Western Digital Corp. (WDC) has introduced two new high-speed SanDisk portable SSDs—the SanDisk Extreme and SanDisk Extreme PRO portable SSDs. Available in capacities of up to 2TB, the new NVME-based Extreme range offers nearly 2x the speed over previous generations.
The flagship SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD features a forged aluminium chassis that is built to stay cool under heavy workloads and a durable silicone design to withstand the rigors of production. It can survive a two-metre drop and has an IP55 rating for resistance against dust and water.
It offers up to 2,000MB/s read and up to 2,000MB/s write speeds.
On the other hand the mainstream SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD features a durable silicone shell that offers a premium feel and added protection to the drive’s exterior.
Like the PRO version, it offers IP55 dust- and water-resistance and up to a two-metre drop protection.
It boasts up to 1,050MB/s read and up to 1,000MB/s write speeds.
Both drives offer a USB-C connector that is compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gb/s), USB 3.0, and USB 2.0.
In the box, the drives come with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
Keeping your content private is built-in password protection featuring 256-bit AES hardware encryption.
The SanDisk Extreme and SanDisk Extreme PRO portable SSDs are backed by a five-year limited warranty.
