The rumour mills have gone wild with the much-anticipated successor to the best-selling GALAXY S II, the curvy GALAXY S III, Samsung’s first smartphone running Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. A May 3 launch date is confirmed, with simultaneous launch events in London, New York, Seoul and Dubai.

Confirmed specs point to a Samsung quad-core 1.4Ghz Exynos chipset with a high performance Mali-400MP GPU and a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, the first in the world. The Super AMOLED Plus display supports 720 x 1184 pixel resolution which translates to about 320dpi pixel density, rivaling Apple iPhone 4S‘s Retina Display. 1GB RAM comes as standard.
An 8MP HD camera is confirmed although fresh rumours have indicated 12MP, which is highly realistic given what’s out in the market right now. A baseline unit of 16GB flash storage, upgradeable to 32GB via MicroSD is expected.
The form factor indicates a slim profile with curved glass (with Corning Gorilla Glass, no less). The GALAXY S III will be a quad-band phone, and will have support for 4G LTE 700. Battery life should be pretty good with a 2050mAh bundled battery, although I’d wish it was at least 2,500mAh.

This video was leaked on Youtube. Apparently in Vietnam, but it sounds a whole lot like Thai to me. In any case, it seems to be a test/prototype unit. Watch it below:
