Just as you thought the Buds Live couldn’t get any better, Samsung has introduced its best true wireless earbuds yet—the new Galaxy Buds Pro. The next-generation earbuds boast everything you’d need in a pair of TWS buds: modern, sleek design, immersive sound, active noise cancellation, great connectivity, and more. And it even undercuts Apple’s AirPods Pro price tag by a margin.
The popularity of wireless earbuds has boomed, unsurprisingly due to the explosion of mobile devices. They’re convenient, ultraportable, and for the most part, sound really good.
With the Galaxy Buds Pro, Samsung is delivering its best, most premium TWS yet, without the price tag associated with earbuds in the segment. Move over, AirPods Pro and Sony WF-1000XM3.
Aesthetically, the new buds are more in line with the original Buds and Buds+ rather than the bean-shaped Buds Live. They come in three colours: Phantom Violet, Phantom Black, and Phantom Silver with a compact charging case that weighs just 44.9g. The buds themselves tip the scales at just 6.3g. Perfect colours to match the new Samsung Galaxy S21 series.
They’re made of Post Consumer Material (PCM), with recycled plastic used for the earbuds and case (20 per cent).
The buds offer IPX7 water resistance and offer up to a total playtime of 5 hours with ANC on or 8 hours with ANC off. The charging case supplies additional charge for a total of 18 hours (ANC on) and 28 hours (ANC off), respectively.
A quick 5-minute charge can supply up to one hour of play time. The charge case supports Qi-certified wireless charging.
Connectivity-wise, the buds offer Bluetooth 5.0 (Scalable, AAC, SBC codecs) for low latency performance.
Each bud is armed with an 11mm driver and 6.5mm tweeter for both deep bass and crisp treble with minimum distortion. If the Buds Live are any indication, the Buds Pro should be a step up sonically.
In terms of call quality, the Buds Pro uses three microphones and a Voice Pickup Unit (VPU) to deliver crisp call communication, knocking out unwanted sounds. One of the outer mics also has a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), further eliminating background noises. Furthermore, integrated Wind Shield technology minimises wind noise together with a specially designed chamber and mesh filters.
The Galaxy Buds Pro also feature “the most intelligent ANC capabilities of any true wireless earbuds.” It can reduce up to 99 per cent of background noise. When you need more situational awareness, Ambient Sound can amplify nearby sounds by more than 20 decibels. The great thing is, you can adjust and personalise to your needs.
ANC and Ambient Sound can work automatically to adapt to your surroundings, optimising your audio experience.
The new buds also boasts 360 Audio, featuring Dolby head tracking technology that enables you to be at the centre of the scene. When paired with the Galaxy S21, it also offer low latency Game Mode.

The Galaxy Buds Pro is priced at MYR799 (USD199) and is available for pre-order now until 28 January 2021.
