Samsung Galaxy Buds Live: Everything that matters

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live

With true wireless earbuds all the rage at the moment, it’s no surprise that Samsung is introducing yet another pair of untethered earphones. This time around, it’s the much-leaked bean-shaped Galaxy Buds Live introduced alongside the new Galaxy Note20 flagship smartphone. The uniquely-designed earbuds boast Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), enhanced audio and long-lasting battery life.

The Galaxy Buds Live’s unconventional design isn’t without a good reason. Samsung designers reconfigured the internals, arranging them horizontally instead of vertically.

This gives the buds a more natural appearance and they don’t protrude from your ears. The tip-less design conforms to the shape of your ear, making them comfortable to wear all-day. For enhanced fit, you can pick from two sizes of wingtips.

The buds feature IPX2 water resistance and come in this year’s hero colour Mystic Bronze, as well as Mystic White, and Mystic Black.

The lightweight earbuds weigh just 5.6g per side, with the charging case tipping the scales at just 42.2g.

The earbuds come built-in with a 60mAh battery which is good for up to six hours of use with ANC or Bixby Voice Wake-up on, or up to eight hours with ANC on and Bixby Voice Wake-up off. The charging case, packing a 472mAh cell provides an additional 15 hours of use over multiple charges.

It charges quickly too—a five minute charge can provide an hour of additional playtime.

Tuned by AKG, the Galaxy Buds Live come with a 12mm speaker and bass duct for an immersive audio experience. Three mics (two outer + one inner) and a Voice Pickup Unit ensures your voice comes through loud and clear during calls.

The new buds also feature an intuitive touch-based PUI (physical user interface) for touch control as well as Bixby Voice Wake-up. It allows you to navigate music, open apps, and send messages hands-free (and even eyes-free).

The Galaxy Buds Live supports Bluetooth v5.0 (Samsung codec, AAC, SBC) and includes a Game Mode to reduce audio latency when gaming.

Samsung says the Galaxy Buds Live can seamlessly switch between compatible devices without disconnecting and reconnecting. A much-appreciated feature.
