Samsung Galaxy Watch3 Malaysia: Everything that matters

Samsung Galaxy Watch3

Alongside the new Galaxy Note20 series, Samsung also rolled out its new Tab S7 and S7+ tablets, Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Z Fold2, and the updated Galaxy Watch3. The Galaxy Watch3 is more customisable than ever and gains enhanced health and wellness monitoring features making it the most advanced Galaxy Watch ever.

The Galaxy Watch3 continues to sport a timeless design and premium build, a showcase of a stainless steel case and high-quality leather band. For the first time ever, it will also be available in a titanium model. Available colourways include Mystic Bronze, Mystic Black, and Mystic Silver. The titanium model is offered with a single colour option: Mystic Black.

Unique to the Galaxy Watch series is the popular rotating bezel, which lets you easily navigate between widgets, open apps, and scroll through notifications.

Compared to the original Galaxy Watch, the new watch is also 14 per cent thinner, eight per cent smaller, and 15 per cent lighter—this achieved while featuring a bigger display. It is offered in a 45mm and 41mm case with a 1.4-inch and 1.2-inch Super AMOLED Always On display (360×360), respectively.

Boasting 5ATM and IP68 dust- and water-resistance as well as built to MIL-STD-810G, the Galaxy Watch3 is tough as it is good-looking.

It is also the most customisable Galaxy Watch to date, with over 80,000 watch faces to choose from in the Galaxy Store. You can even design your own with a built-in library of 40 different complications. Coupled with a Galaxy phone, the watch can also intelligently match the look of your outfit—a feature that’s not dissimilar to Magic Screen found on Samsung’s lifestyle TV product range.

Big on health

The big changes are found under the hood. Samsung has upped the ante in terms of health and wellness monitoring. Coming soon is a bloody oxygen (Sp02) feature that can measure and track oxygen saturation over time.

The watch will also include blood pressure (BP) monitoring and electrocardiogram (ECG) readings in select markets.

Perhaps emulating the Apple Watch, the new Galaxy Watch3 also comes with a new feature that detects falls; it identifies a potential fall and can send an SOS notification to your predetermined emergency contacts.

Big on fitness

The Galaxy Watch packs even more fitness tracking features including Running analysis that offers real-time feedback during your runs. It will also present you with six-factor post-workout reports so you can track and improve performance, and reduce injury.

The watch will soon be able to easily access VO, max readings that give you insight to your oxygen uptake.

Samsung Health, the health and fitness hub in the Samsung device ecosystem, will give you access to a library of more than 120 different video workouts. You can select a workout routine on your Galaxy smartphone, cast it to your Samsung Smart TV and your Galaxy Watch3 will automatically track your workout.

The new Galaxy Watch3 also offers brand new sleep core and insights to ensure you are well rested at night.

The talented smartwatch has seamless compatibility with other Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Note20. You can set auto reply options for both messages and images, and view emoticons and photos on your wrist.

Connectivity-wise, the watch features Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Gaileo, and NFC; also offered as a LTE cellular model for always-on connectivity.

Big battery life?

The 45mm model features a 340mAh battery while the 41mm model houses a 247mAh cell. Both support WPC-based wireless charging. Samsung, however, has not quoted official numbers for battery life. The previous Galaxy Watch (non-cellular) could deliver up to seven days of use on a single charge.
