Poco F2 Pro Malaysia: Pricing, availability of the latest flagship killer

Poco F2 Pro

How about this as a compelling reason to pick up the Poco F2 Pro—flagship performance minus the flagship price. The Poco F1’s successor is now ready to set Malaysian shores ablaze, having made an international debut on 12 May 2020.

I know, the term “flagship-killer” has been thrown around a lot, and the original king of flagship-killers—the OnePlus has gracefully relinquished its throne. Not because it surrendered per se, but because it is no longer the affordable dark horse it used to be.

The scene took a refreshing change when the Poco F1 sizzled its way into the market two years ago. And now, act two will attempt to do the same (although the realme X3 Pro would want to have a word or two about that).

Pricing and availability

Xiaomi Malaysia is offering two variants of the Poco F2 Pro: 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, retailing at MYR2,199 and MYR2,599 respectively.

The device will hit store shelves on 10 June 2020, including Xiaomi LazMall Flagship Store on Lazada, Mi Official Store at Shopee Mall, and physical Authorised Mi Stores across Malaysia.

In conjunction with the Malaysian launch, Xiaomi is holding a one-day flash sale offer for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model at MYR200 off i.e. MYR1,999 on 10 June 2020, exclusively at the Xiaomi LazMall Flagship Store on Lazada.

In addition, each purchase of the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant will come with a free BlackShark Fun Cooler (RRP: MYR139). The free gift is applicable to all purchases at Xiaomi LazMall Flagship Store on Lazada, Mi Official Store at Shopee Mall, and physical Authorised Mi Stores.

The devices are available in Neon Blue, Phantom White, Electric Purple, and Cyber Grey.

Where the previous Poco flagship featured run-of-the-mill optics, the Poco F2 Pro adopts a more purposeful approach. Based on the Redmi K30 Pro, the device gets a commendable quad-camera setup which includes a 64MP main camera with a large 1/1.7-inch Sony IMX686 sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP “telemacro” camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front is a 20MP selfie-camera.

No stereo speakers unfortunately, but you do get a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR blaster, and NFC, as well as up-to-date connectivity with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1.

Keeping things juiced is a massive 4,700mAH battery that fast charges via USB-C. It supports 30W fast charging, taking just 63 minutes to go from zero to 100 per cent.

The Poco F2 Pro runs Poco Launcher 2.0 based on Android 10.
