Petaling Jaya, 27 March 2013 – Panasonic showcased a new line-up of Smart VIERA TVs for 2013 at the Panasonic VIERA Launch 2013 in Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Petaling Jaya. Ranging from 24 to 55 inches for LED Models and 50 to 65 inches for Plasma TV models, this new Smart VIERA line-up highlights 3 main features, a customizable individual “My Home Screen”, Voice Interaction and “Swipe & Share 2.0”.
My Home Screen
The “My Home Screen” is a customizable portal screen menu which allows a user to display their favorite videos, TV shows or internet videos and photos which is accessible the minute the screen is turned on. Coupled with voice commands, an easy to use touch pad controller and facial recognition, users can easily access their favorite sites, watch their favorite shows or browse photos through conventional methods, such as the remote or more advanced methods such as voice commands. The touch pad can be used for easy scrolling and surfing.
Voice Interaction
Using the Touch Pad Controller or your smartphone, users may a series of voice commands to search, display or even read out displayed text on screen. The “VIERA remote 2” app is required for smartphone usage, which is available for Android and iOS devices.
Swipe & Share 2.0
Link your smartphone or tablet to the TV and share content seamlessly. Through their demonstrations during their presentation, it looked absolutely easy to operate and extremely fast. Coupled with a built in camera, a touch pen and an in-built microphone, users will be able to creatively create video messages, share silly drawings or communicate via Skype, one of many apps available for the TV.

It also combines eco sensibility with superior product performance and enhanced networking functionality in a slim profile with state of the art design featuring slim design with super slim bezel,” says Jeff Lee, Managing Director of Panasonic Malaysia.
Features of the Smart VIERA TV were also presented well, through a scene acted out by presenter Hanson Lee, who showcased the features ad-hoc through several scenarios which included the use of all main features and more. It was a fairly fresh experience, considering that most product launches lack such creativity in script.
Either way, the new range of TVs is an exciting start for Panasonic Malaysia. Panasonic believes that the launch of the new Smart VIERA line-up will increase their current market share by 3% in the Smart TV category with an increase to 15% in the local market share for TVs.
